New Bhutanese envoy meets Foreign Secretary

Highlighting the quality of various Bangladeshi products, Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam on Tuesday hoped that Bangladesh’s export to Bhutan would see an increase.


He also noted that the next round of Commerce Secretary-level meetings would be convened in Dhaka at a mutually convenient date, as Ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Foreign Secretary conveyed that Bangladesh is looking forward to the next round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) to be held this year in Dhaka at a mutually convenient time.

During the meeting, they discussed various areas of bilateral cooperation including trade and education.

Referring to the excellent and longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Bhutan, the Foreign Secretary emphasized that there remains substantial potential for deepening bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

Foreign Secretary Siam welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh and congratulated her on her appointment.

He assured the Ambassador of all possible cooperation during her tenure in Bangladesh.

The Bhutanese Ambassador congratulated the Foreign Secretary on assuming his own new responsibilities and handed over a congratulatory letter from the Foreign Secretary of Bhutan, reports UNB.
