The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed 121 individuals into Bangladesh through two border points in Moulvibazar district between late Saturday night and Sunday morning.
According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local sources, 79 people were sent across the Shahbazpur border in Barlekha upazila, while another 42 entered through the Pallathal border. The individuals were reportedly pushed in through dense forests and wetlands starting around 2:30 AM.
As soon as the groups crossed the border, BGB personnel detained them. Their nationalities remain unconfirmed, and the verification process is currently underway.
Confirming the incident, Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan, Commander of BGB Battalion-52, said surveillance had been intensified in the area following suspicious cross-border movements.
“We observed groups being pushed in through forested and marshy routes from the Indian side. Our teams responded immediately and took them into custody. Identity verification is ongoing,” he stated.
