As part of its ongoing mission to enhance healthcare for vulnerable communities, Qatar Charity has successfully conducted its fourth pediatric medical camp in Bangladesh, offering critical treatment to children suffering from congenital heart defects.
The seven-day camp, which began on April 12 at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in Dhaka, facilitated 110 life-saving cardiac catheterisation procedures for children from underprivileged families.
A distinguished international medical team led the initiative. The team included Professor Muhammad Noman from the University of Texas, Professor Iyad Al-Amouri, a pediatric cardiologist from Jordan University Hospital, Dr. Rajab Al-Sayed from King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Hassan Ismail, a pediatric anesthesia specialist from Palestine, and Abdullah Ashkanani, Head Technician at the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Hamad Hospital in Qatar. They were supported by local healthcare professionals and volunteers, ensuring the mission’s success.
In a parallel effort, Qatar Charity also launched its first-ever medical campaign in Bangladesh aimed at adults and the elderly requiring cardiac catheterisation. Held at Shamarita Medical College Hospital in Dhaka, the initiative enabled 25 life-saving procedures during the same period.
At the camp's inauguration, Daud Miah, Director General of the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh, praised Qatar Charity for its crucial role in delivering accessible healthcare.
“I encourage other NGOs in Bangladesh to follow this inspiring example,” he stated.
Parents of the treated children expressed profound gratitude and relief, noting that the free, high-quality care provided new hope for their families.
