US Deputy National Security Adviser Alex N. Wong spoke by phone on Wednesday evening with Dr. Khalilur Rahman, the Chief Adviser's High Representative.

The conversation covered a wide range of mutual interests, and both officials agreed to maintain regular communication, according to CA's Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.

This marks the highest-level contact between the new US administration and Bangladesh's Interim Government, Azad said.

Recently, the US confirmed $73 million in new aid for Rohingya refugees. The US remains the largest donor, having contributed nearly $2.4 billion since 2017, and continues to provide emergency food and nutrition support through the United Nations.

Additionally, the United States has decided to honor the women student protest leaders from Bangladesh's July uprising with the prestigious Madeleine Albright Honorary Group Award.
