Italy's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, is scheduled to visit Bangladesh from February 18 to 20, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

The visit comes as both countries look to address key areas of cooperation, with Bangladesh prioritizing the swift and effective resolution of migration-related issues, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam during a weekly media briefing.

"During her stay, the Vice Minister is expected to engage with top Bangladeshi officials, including the Chief Adviser, the Foreign Affairs Adviser, and the Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser," Alam said.

Notably, this marks the first ministerial visit from Italy in the past eight years, and the first from any European Union member state since the current interim government took office.

Discussions between the two sides will also focus on expanding collaboration in key sectors such as industry, commerce, education, and culture, with an emphasis on strengthening people-to-people relations.
