Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has expressed his hope that people from all sectors of Bangladesh will enthusiastically join in the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China, as well as the Year of China-Bangladesh People-to-People Exchanges.

Ambassador Yao emphasized that he believes this milestone will not only honor the past but also strengthen the enduring friendship between the two nations. He encouraged Bangladeshis to engage in collaborative efforts to further enhance the bilateral bond.

Accompanied by Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, Ambassador Yao visited the "China Book House" at the ongoing Ekushey Book Fair on Friday, an initiative organized by the Chinese Embassy. The event also included a special exhibition that highlighted traditional Chinese craftsmanship, hosted by the Confucius Institutes. The pair interacted warmly with local readers, adding a cultural highlight to the celebrations marking the 2025 Dhaka "Happy Chinese New Year."

Ambassador Yao described the "China Book House" as an open gateway for the Bangladeshi public to explore Chinese culture, knowledge, and heritage. He invited Bangladeshis to immerse themselves in the vast array of resources available at the exhibit.

The "China Book House" showcases more than 400 types of Chinese publications, with a total of over 1,000 copies covering a wide range of topics, from Chinese history, folklore, and culture to cuisine, politics, and language learning.

In addition to the books, Confucius Institute teachers set up interactive booths where visitors had the chance to experience traditional Chinese arts like sugar painting, woodblock printing, lacquer fan making, and the intricate Luban lock puzzle. A captivating dragon and lion dance performance further added to the lively atmosphere, bringing an extra layer of festivity to the event.

Cultural Affairs Adviser Farooki remarked that the "China Book House" not only enriched the cultural diversity of the Ekushey Book Fair but also created a unique opportunity for Bangladeshi readers to gain firsthand insights into the rich cultural tapestry of China.
