Rubio, Saudi FM discuss regional security in meeting
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Washington, DC, to discuss regional security and bilateral cooperation.
According to a statement released by the US State Department, the meeting continued discussions that began during the United Nations General Assembly. The two officials addressed efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation on regional security and stability, with particular attention to developments in Iran, Gaza, Lebanon and Sudan.
The discussions come amid continued diplomatic efforts to address conflicts and instability across the Middle East and wider region. Washington and Riyadh have maintained close diplomatic engagement on regional security issues, including efforts related to ongoing conflicts and broader stability.
The State Department said the officials also discussed other regional matters, underscoring the continuing coordination between the United States and Saudi Arabia on issues affecting security and stability in the region, reports AL Jazeera.
