Bangladesh-India Ties Advancing in Key Areas: Trivedi

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has said Bangladesh-India relations are steadily growing on the foundations of shared history, mutual respect and partnership.

He said bilateral cooperation is advancing in several key areas, including trade, connectivity, security and healthcare, while there is further scope to expand cooperation in trade, culture and renewable energy.

Trivedi made the remarks on Saturday while addressing an event in Dhaka marking India’s 80th Independence Day.

The celebrations began at the Indian High Commission in Baridhara with the hoisting of the Indian national flag in a festive and dignified atmosphere. The national anthem was subsequently performed.

Officials and employees of the Indian High Commission, Indian citizens living in Dhaka and invited guests attended the programme. Special messages from the President and Prime Minister of India were also read out.

Highlighting close people-to-people ties, Trivedi said the shared aspirations and strong connections between the peoples of Bangladesh and India remain the foundation of their enduring friendship.

He said the two countries’ shared history, mutual respect and partnership provide a strong basis for further strengthening bilateral relations.

According to the Indian envoy, cooperation between the two countries is progressing beyond traditional areas such as trade, connectivity and security and increasingly includes sectors such as healthcare.

He stressed the need to further broaden the multifaceted relationship through expanded trade and cultural exchanges.

Trivedi also highlighted significant potential for Bangladesh and India to cooperate in renewable energy, saying the sector could provide new opportunities for closer bilateral engagement.
