The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved nine development projects with a combined estimated cost of Tk 36,695.72 crore.

The approval was given at a meeting held on Wednesday at the Cabinet Division conference room in the Bangladesh Secretariat. The session was chaired by the ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

According to official sources, the bulk of the funding—Tk 36,490.93 crore—will come from the government’s own resources, while Tk 204.79 crore will be financed through internal funds of implementing agencies.

Of the approved projects, three are new initiatives, five are revised proposals with updated costs or scopes, and one project has received an extension for completion.

Senior cabinet ministers, state ministers, members of the Planning Commission and top officials from relevant ministries and divisions attended the meeting.
