Two cops hurt, 14 held in CNG driver-police clash in Ctg

Two policemen were injured in a clash between traffic police and CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers in Chattogram city. 


After the altercation, which arose over the driving of CNG drivers in the opposite direction at Moijjartek Fossil Fuel Station under Karnaphuli upazila around 11 am on Sunday, Karnaphuli Police Station conducted a raid in the area and arrested 14 CNG drivers and confiscating several CNG-run three-wheelers. 
 
The injured individuals are Sergeant Imtiaz Shahriar and Constable Salauddin, who were rescued later and admitted to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). 
 
Sergeant Imtiaz stated that they were attacked by a group of individuals when a CNG-run vehicle from the opposite direction attempted to stop them. The CNG drivers claimed that they were unjustly attacked, reports BSS. 
 
Abu Sayeed Baker, in-charge of the Moijjartek Traffic Police, mentioned that the collision occurred due to vehicles moving in opposite directions. The two injured policemen are currently receiving treatment at CMCH, he added. 
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Jahedul Islam of Karnaphuli Police Station stated that the arrested individuals are under investigation and legal action is being pursued against them.
