Polytechnic student stabbed dead in Tongi, 3 held

A polytechnic student was stabbed to death by some miscreants in Tongi of Gazipur district on Sunday night.


The deceased was identified as Jahidul Ahsan Jihad, 20, son of Jahangir Alam of Vanganahati area in Sreepur municipality of Gazipur. He was a student of Brahmanbaria Polytechnic Institute but lived with his family in the area.

Quoting locals, police said Jihad went out of his home with Tk 3,000 to pay his semester fees online around 10pm when several miscreants stabbed him on Shafiuddin Sarkar Road in Auchpara area.

Locals took him to a nearby hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Shortly after the murder, locals detained three suspects- Abdullah, 20, Swadhin, 20, and Al-Amin, 24, and handed them over to police, reports UNB. 

Duty officer Jahirul Islam of Tongi Paschim Police Station said legal action is underway.
