A 30-year-old man was shot and injured reportedly by muggers at Nandipara in Banasree area of the capital early Saturday.

Bullet-hit Md. Nafiz was rescued around 4:30 am and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Abu Bokkar Siddique, father of Nafiz, said when his son was returning home from a friend’s house in Jatrabari on his motorbike three young men intercepted him and tried to snatch his money, two mobile phones, and the motorbike, reports UNB.

When he resisted, they shot him in the left leg and fled with the belongings, he said.

He was first taken to Farazi Hospital in Banasree and then to DMCH.

Inspector Md. Faruk, in charge of the police camp at DMCH, said the young man was brought from Titas Road in Nandipara. “We have informed the relevant police station about the incident.”
