Teen bride beaten to death in Kushtia

Police recovered the body of a teenage housewife, who was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and in-laws just six months after her marriage on Saturday morning.


The deceased was identified as Samiha Khatun,15, the wife of Jibon Hossain (22), in Mirzapur area of Kushtia.

Her elder sister, Sakiba Khatun, said, “Jibon forced her into a marriage over a love affair. Disputes over household items continued, and my sister was beaten to death by her husband and in-laws. They then fled after faking a suicide.”

Kumarkhali Police Sub-Inspector Prakash Chandra Bachhar said marks of injury were visible on the body. “The body was sent to the hospital morgue for postmortem. The report will confirm the cause of death,” he added.

The husband and his parents are currently absconding, reports UNB.
