Besides, 10 kg of current nets and a wooden boat used to transport drugs were also seized during the drive, reports our Cox’s Bazar staff correspondent quoting Lt Col Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-2.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB patrol team carried out the operation on the estuary of Jaliar Dip in Teknaf and took a position there. After a while, when two men, who crossed the zero line from Myanmar with a wooden boat, the patrol team challenged them, said the BGB CO.
The patrol team chased the alleged smugglers but finally failed to detain them as they tried to escape by jumping into the river from the boat, he said.
Searching the boat, 1 kg and 353 grams of crystal meth ice and 10 kg of current nets were recovered from under the boat’s plot, added the BGB official.
