A Jubo Dal leader was found dead at a bus counter in Magura early Wednesday, with relatives alleging that he had been shot by motorcycle-borne assailants.

Mohammad Shaker Hossain, 38, joint convener of Magura municipal Jubo Dal, was found at the Royal Express bus counter at Magura Central Bus Terminal around 5am on October 21.

According to local sources, two men arrived at the scene on a motorcycle. One entered the counter while the other waited outside.

The man who entered allegedly shot Shaker before fleeing with his accomplice.

Shaker, a resident of Parnanduali village in Magura Sadar, worked as a manager at the Royal Express counter.

He was taken to Magura Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Doctors initially suspected a stroke but later noticed a small wound at the back of his head.

Police said the exact cause of death would be determined after an autopsy.

Magura Superintendent of Police Molla Azad Hossain said police had visited the scene and launched an investigation.

The motive behind the incident and the identities of those involved had yet to be established.
