Youth killed as two groups clash over previous enmity in Sylhet

A youth was killed in a clash between two groups over a longstanding dispute in Silam area of South Surma upazila on Friday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Russell, 23, son of Sharuk Mia of Silam area.
The clash took place after Jumma prayers, triggering fresh tension in the area.
Muglabazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Ershadul Haque Bhuiyan said Russell sustained critical injuries during the clash and was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Locals said the clash erupted between the two groups over a previous dispute and later turned into a physical confrontation, leaving Russell critically injured.
Earlier in August, a major violent clash took place at Silam Chak Bazar between the Sheikh and Shah groups over control of a shrine and mosque's waqf estate and money from donation boxes, reports UNB.
