485 held in capital, highest arrests in Mirpur

Police arrested 485 people in separate anti-crime drives conducted across the capital during the past 24 hours.


According to a statement issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), 50 cases were filed during the period.

Of the arrested, 31 were held by Ramna Division police, 34 by Lalbagh Division, 46 by Wari Division, 57 by Motijheel Division, 77 by Tejgaon Division, 125 by Mirpur Division, 57 by Gulshan Division, 49 by Uttara Division and nine by the Detective Branch (DB).

During the drives, police also seized 4,295 pieces of yaba, 610 grams of marijuana, eight mobile phone sets and Tk 1,24,000 in cash.

The highest number of arrests was made by Mirpur Division, with 125 people detained.

The arrests were made during routine anti-crime operations conducted in different police station areas across the capital, reports BSS.

Legal proceedings against the detained persons are underway, the DMP said.
