Girl, 4, sexually harassed in Habiganj; cousin held
A 20-year-old youth on Friday has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing his four-year-old cousin in Habiganj Sadar upazila.
The suspect, identified as Bijoy, son of Abdul Salam, hails from Durlabhpur village in the upazila.
According to police sources, the incident took place on the night of May 15 when Bijoy went to his uncle's house. At one point, he digitally penetrated the child's private parts. Hearing the child scream, her mother rushed to the room and asked what had happened, prompting the minor to recount the ordeal.
As the victim suffered severe pain, her family admitted her to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital on Thursday night, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Zahid Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Habiganj Police Station, said that hospital doctors confirmed the child was not raped, but rather subjected to sexual harassment.
The victim's mother stated that her daughter was hospitalized due to the intense pain resulting from the assault. Police arrested Bijoy promptly after receiving the formal complaint, reports UNB.
