Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in a drive arrested two people along with 1.71 lakh Yaba tablets from Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on Tuesday night.

The arrestees were identified as Md Firoz, 35, son of Mantaz, and Md Foysal, 20, son of Abdul Hamid, of Teknaf upazila.

Tipped off, a team of BGB intercepted a Cox’s Bazar-bound fish-laden pickup from Teknaf at the Shilkhali check-post and seized 1,71,200 Yaba tablets, kept in 20 packets and tactfully wrapped with scotch tape inside a drum, around 7:30pm, said Commanding Officer of Ukhiya BGB-64 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Md Zahirul Islam.

Later, they arrested the pickup driver and his helper in this connection.

During interrogation, the arrestees said that they had collected the Yaba tablets from Teknaf Lama Bazar and were transporting them for delivery in the Jatrabari area of the capital, reports UNB.
