West Indies captain Shai Hope opted to bat first after winning the toss in the three-match T20 International series opening game against Bangladesh at Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram today.

“It looks a little bit dry, and we want to try to get the maximum out of it as a batting group,” Hope said, explaining his decision to bat first.

“We want to start the series on a good note and there is always belief in the group. We want to win every single game. We know it is not possible but as long as we are giving our 100 percent, that will keep us in good stead,” he said.

Regular captain Liton Das returned to squad to give the side a massive boost. Liton missed two crucial matches in Asia Cup and subsequent Afghanistan series. He also missed out ODI series against West Indies in Dhaka, which Bangladesh won by 2-1.

Liton however was not disappointed to loss the toss as he has upbeat their chance to overhaul any kind of total in this surface, reports BSS.

He further said that batting second team won most of the matches in Chattogram during the last BPL.

“Not much of training the last two weeks for me, but I am 100 percent fit for this match,” Liton said. “Looks a good wicket and I do not mind batting second, that is what most teams do in BPL here,” he added.
