Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican took five for 53 as Bangladesh lost their last seven wickets for 59 runs to be bowled out for 272 on the second day of the first Test against West Indies on Thursday.

West Indies replied with 89 for one in 27 overs before bad light forced an early tea at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Rain then started during the break.

Opener John Campbell was unbeaten on 53 off 65 balls, his sixth Test fifty and his third in a row. He reached it by hitting Mehidy Hasan Miraz for four and six off the last two balls of the 24th over. Tagenarine Chanderpaul was 21 not out off 77 balls.

Campbell was dropped twice. Nayeem Hasan put him down on five off Hasan Mahmud, and Shariful Islam dropped a return catch off his own bowling when he was on 22.

Hasan took the only wicket, removing Brandon King for 15 in the fifth over with West Indies on 29.

Bangladesh resumed on 213 for three and lost Shadman Islam for 105 in the third over of the day, trapped lbw by Joshua Bishop after completing his third Test century in the first over. Shadman's dismissal at 221 started the collapse.

Liton Das, who resumed on 10, finished unbeaten on 34. Warrican wrapped up the innings by dismissing Shariful, the last man out.

Liton was hit on the right elbow while batting, national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said. "Liton Das's right elbow was bruised after he was hit while batting in Bangladesh's first innings. He has been kept under observation. Jaker Ali is keeping wicket as a substitute," he said.

Bishop and Shamar Joseph took two wickets each. Joseph struck with consecutive deliveries, reports UNB.
