Dhaka, 18 Oct - The West Indies cricket team arrived in Dhaka today to play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
The series which is the part of ICC World Test Championship (WTC) starts on October 28.
The visiting team made a late change to the squad as allrounder Shamar Springer replaced pacer Keemo Paul, the Cricket West Indies confirmed in a statement today. Paul has withdrawn him from the series due to personal and family reasons.
The visitors will play three-day warm-up match on October 22 before the first Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. The second and final Test is scheduled to begin in Sylhet International Stadium on November 5.
The West Indies last toured for Tests in Bangladesh in 2021, eventually winning the series 2-0.
So far the two teams played 11 Test series with Bangladesh winning two in 2009 and 2018. West Indies won eight series and one series ended in a draw.
Overall of the 22 Tests between the two teams, Bangladesh won five and lost 15 while two Tests were drawn.
However, Bangladesh's recent form made them heavily favourite to win the series and take a giant leap toward the WTC final. The confidence soared further following their 1-1 draw in two-match Test series in Australia recently.
Bangladesh are currently fourth in the WTC standing while West Indies are in eighth place.
