Hasan's Six-Wicket Haul Bundles Australia Out for 198

Australia were bowled out for 198 in their first innings of the Darwin Test as Bangladesh’s pace attack produced a superb performance, led by Hasan Mahmud’s career-best six-wicket haul.

Hasan was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers, finishing with 6-55 as Australia lost wickets at regular intervals. Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain also made important contributions as Bangladesh kept the Australian batting lineup under constant pressure.

Australia lost their first wicket for 45 when Hasan dismissed Weatherald for 23 off 37 balls, with Litton Das taking the catch behind the stumps. Hasan struck again soon after, bowling Travis Head through an inside edge.

Ebadot then removed Marnus Labuschagne for just one, with Najmul Hossain Shanto taking the catch. Australia were 61 for three before Taskin dismissed Cameron Green for 13, with Mushfiqur Rahim taking a fine catch.

Steven Smith and Alex Carey briefly steadied the innings with a 55-run partnership. Ebadot broke the stand by bowling Carey through an inside edge.

Taskin then produced another breakthrough, bowling Beau Webster with an inswinger to leave Australia six wickets down for 152.

Smith remained firm at one end and reached his half-century from 76 balls. However, Hasan continued to dismantle the Australian lower order, dismissing captain Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc in quick succession.

Australia reached the tea break at 183 for eight after 48 overs, with Bangladesh firmly in control.

The visitors' dominance continued after the break. Hasan ended Smith’s resistance when the batter top-edged a delivery to Litton Das behind the stumps. Smith scored 71 off 109 balls, giving Hasan his fifth wicket.

Hasan then completed his six-wicket haul by dismissing Nathan Lyon for seven, wrapping up Australia’s innings at 198.

Hasan’s 6-55 marked his best bowling figures in Test cricket, while Bangladesh’s pace attack ensured Australia failed to reach 200 in their first innings.
