Writ filed seeking removal iron cages from courtrooms

The petition was filed with court of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah on Tuesday.



Ten lawyers of the Supreme Court have filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking its order on the authorities concerned of the government to remove the iron cages from the courtrooms.

The petition was filed with court of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah on Tuesday (January 23).

Advocate Shishir Manir, on behalf of the 10 lawyers, submitted the petition.

The petitioners are – GM Mujahidur Rahman, Muhammad Misbah Uddin, Md Jobaydur Rahman, Mohammad Noab Ali, Azimuddin Patwary, Mohammad Sajjad Sarwar, Md Mujahidul Islam, Mohammad Saddam Hossain, Mohammad Mizanul Haque and Abdullah Sadik.

The petitioners said the use of iron cages at the courtrooms is inhumane and contradictory to the law and constitution.
