FM official sent to jail for possession of illegal wealth

Judge-in-Charge of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court of Dhaka on Tuesday sent Foreign Ministry Administrative Officer Md Zakir Hossain, 53 was sent to the jail on the charge of amassing illegal wealth worth Taka 15 crore 40 lakh.

After Zakir Hossain surrendered in the court seeking bail on Tuesday, Judge-in-Charge Faisal Atik Bin Kader rejected his bail plea and sent him to the jail after hearing on his bail plea.

Zakir is a son of Bahurul Haque of Basabari village of Bagerhat Sadar upazilla. Earlier,
