The Fourth Additional Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Shariful Alam Bhuiyan passed the order.
The convicts were known as Jamila Khatun (28) and Gulzar Begum (32).
The court’s bench assistant Omar Fuad confirmed the verdict.
According to the case satement, on January 20, 2020, the two women were arrested along with Yaba by the Narcotics Control Directorate. Meanwhile, 1850 pieces of yaba were recovered from their possessions. A case was filed with Baklia police station in this connection.
On March 15, 2022, Sub-Inspector (SI) Nasreen Parveen Rumi Talukder, the investigating officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the court. On August 17, 2022, charges were formed against the two.
After a long hearing and receiving testimony, the court on Wednesday sentenced Jamila Khatun and Gulzar Begum to life with rigorous imprisonment. The court also fined them each Tk 10,000, in default they have to serve one-more month in jail.
