A court here today convicted and sentenced former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, Sitangshu Kumar Chowdhury alias SK Sur Chowdhury, to three years' imprisonment in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for not filing a wealth statement.

Judge Ayesha Nasrin of Dhaka Special Judge Court-2 pronounced the judgment in the presence of the convict and sent him back to jail with a conviction warrant, public prosecutor Abul Kalam Azad told BSS.

The ACC Deputy Director, Nazmul Hussain, on December 23, 2024, filed the case against Chowdhury, for failing to submit the wealth statement within 21 working days of receiving its notice.

The anti-graft body on August 25, 2025, framed the charge-sheet in the case, and the court on November 06, 2025, framed charges in the case.

The court on July 15 set today for pronouncing the judgment as the prosecution and defence concluded their arguments in the case on that day.
