Iran launches new missiles at Israel

Dhaka, June 21 - Sirens have sounded across central Israel recently as Iran launched a fresh wave of missiles targeting the country.

According to Channel 12, five missiles were fired, with only one reported to have landed in central Israel.

It remains uncertain whether any of the missiles scored direct hits.

The Times of Israel reported that Magen David Adom, the national emergency service, has not treated any injuries so far. The outlet also noted that Israelis have now been given the all-clear to emerge from their shelters.

A ‘prolonged’ conflict

Israeli security assessments released this afternoon indicate that the ongoing conflict may last longer than initially anticipated. The Israeli army’s chief of staff has urged the public to prepare for a potentially extended confrontation.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that the primary objective is not regime change in Iran, but rather the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear programme to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons. However, Israel’s defence minister, while agreeing with this main goal, suggested that regime change might also be among Israel’s broader objectives.

Israeli leadership has made it clear that they are prepared to sustain the conflict for as long as necessary, emphasizing that the country possesses both the military strength and the defensive and offensive capabilities to continue the fight. - UNB
