Yemen’s armed forces have carried out air strikes against Houthi forces at the abandoned Sofitel hotel in Taiz, according to military spokesperson Colonel Majid al-Nuzaili.

Al-Nuzaili said in a post on X that the strikes targeted Houthi tanks and artillery east of the city of Taiz “in response to the Houthi Militia’s targeting of civilians”.

The air strikes by Saudi-backed forces, fighting for the internationally recognised government, “neutralised the command-and-control centre and destroyed two tanks”, al-Nuzaili said.

The abandoned hotel, al-Nuzaili said, “served as a heavily fortified command-and-control centre used by the militia to launch attacks against the civilian population”.
