We know that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) of Saudi Arabia spoke directly on at least two occasions with US President Donald Trump to request military assistance.

We also know that the Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman spoke with his counterpart in the United States, Pete Hegseth, and requested that the US conduct military strikes in defence of Saudi Arabia.

All of those requests were rebuffed.

Instead, the Trump administration’s official position is that the focus right now is on its own conflict with Iran.

As a result, the only thing the US has provided in terms of support for Saudi Arabia has been targeted assistance, as well as intelligence, reports AL Jazeera.
