The Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) have signed an agreement for handing over the IT Training and Incubation Center, established in Pirganj upazila of the district, to the university for management and operation.

The agreement was signed at a function held at the meeting room of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority at ICT Tower in the capital's Agargaon on Monday afternoon, a BRUR press release said.

BRUR Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali and Member (Joint Secretary) of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Mohammad Saiful Hasan signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

Secretary of the ICT Division Shish Haider Chowdhury, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority AKM Amirul Islam, and BRUR Registrar Dr Md Harun-or-Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of BRUR Professor Dr Md Mizanur Rahman were present at the signing ceremony.

Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali told BSS that BRUR has been entrusted with operating the IT Training and Incubation Center, established in Pirganj, the birthplace of Abu Sayed, the first martyr of the July Mass Uprising.

"If the center is managed by BRUR, students from northern Bangladesh, local youth, and entrepreneurs interested in innovation will have opportunities for IT-based training, research, and development," he said.

He added that the center will contribute to local economic development, employment generation, and the development of skilled human resources in the technology sector, reports BSS.

"This collaboration marks a milestone in expanding IT education opportunities at Begum Rokeya University," he said.
