Seminar on harnessing the youth dividend held at BUP on Monday.
Dhaka, 07 September 2025: The Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies (FSSS) of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), in collaboration with the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), organized a seminar titled ‘Harnessing the Youth Dividend: Peace and Security Imperatives for Bangladesh in a Changing World’ on 07 September 2025 at Shadhinota Auditorium, BUP.
The seminar sought to bring together policymakers, academics, practitioners, and young voices to explore youth contributions to both traditional and non-traditional security, their role in peacebuilding systems, and their transformative influence on Bangladesh’s development and global stature. Major General Iftekhar Anis, BSP, awc, afwc, psc, PEng, Director General of BIISS, delivered the welcome address at the inaugural session. The distinguished panel featured researchers, faculty members, and students from BIISS and BUP, who presented insightful papers on a diverse range of topics, including traditional security, cross-border challenges, climate change, migration, youth leadership, and peacebuilding. The sessions were moderated by eminent personalities, including Lt Gen Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman (Retd), Former Principal Staff Officer, Armed Forces Division; Dr. Sazzad Siddiqui, Associate Professor and Chairman, Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Dhaka; and Ms. Munira Sultana, Deputy Manager, Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC).
BUP Vice Chancellor Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam, BSP, ndc, afwc, psc, MPhil, PhD graced the seminar as the Chief Guest and delivered the closing remarks. Among others, BUP high officials, faculty members, students, researchers, and invited guests attended the seminar. – Press release
