University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof SMA Faiz announced on Thursday evening that the government has accepted the demands put forward by protesting students of Jagannath University (JnU).

He made the statement while addressing students at a protest rally near the Kakrail intersection in the capital around 7:00pm.

The announcement came just hours after JnU students launched a mass hunger strike at 3:30pm to press home their four-point demands. The UGC chairman visited the protest site and briefed the students directly about the government’s decision.
