Dozens injured Dhaka College, City College students clash

An unspecified number of people including 15-20 policemen were injured in a clash between the students of City College and Dhaka College near Science Laboratory intersection in the capital on Tuesday.

Witnesses said some students of Dhaka College gathered in front of City College gate around 10:30 am and removed a steel logo on the gate.

Angered by the incident, the students of City College chased the Dhaka College students, triggering a clash.

On information, police rushed to the spot and charged baton to disperse the students.

Police also lobbed tear gas shells and fired sound grenades to bring the situation under control.

At one stage, some students hurled brick chips targeting police, leaving 15-20 policemen injured, said officer-in-charge of New Market Police Station Mahsin Uddin.

Several students were also injured during the clash.

Vehicular movement in Science Laboratory area remained suspended for three and half an hours following the clash, reports UNB.
