BUP Inaugurates Newly Constructed Buildings at West Campus

Chief of the Army Staff General Waqar-Uz-Zaman opened three new buidings of BUP on Sunday 30 Aug 2026.



DHAKA, 30 August 2026 — Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) proudly inaugurated three newly constructed infrastructure landmarks—Utility Building, Faculty of Science & Technology (FST) Tower, and Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences (FASS) Tower—at its West Campus. This major milestone marks a significant leap forward in the university's continuous mission to elevate its academic infrastructure and provide state-of-the-art facilities for its academic community. General Waqar-Uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, psc, Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, graced the inauguration ceremony as the Chief Guest.

The day's events commenced with the Chief Guest formally unveiling the new buildings at the West Campus and planting a commemorative tree. Following the inauguration, Chief Guest toured the West Campus and student residential areas.

The formal ceremony was hosted at the BUP Shadhinota Auditorium. In his comprehensive welcome address, BUP Vice Chancellor Major General Md. Mahbub-ul Alam, BSP, ndc, afwc, psc, MPhil, PhD, spotlighted BUP's steady strides in professional higher education and cutting-edge research. He underscored the institution's commitment to nurturing skilled human resources, fostering global collaborations, and driving future development plans designed to keep BUP at the forefront of modern education.

A highlight of the programme the Chief Guest officially unveiling the cover of "Educating Minds; Awakening Conscience," a new book authored by BUP Vice Chancellor Major General Md. Mahbub-ul Alam. Following the unveiling of the book, the Chief Guest distributed awards among 14 teams of BUP students who have secured first place in various national and international competitions.

Addressing the assembly the Chief Guest praised BUP’s remarkable trajectory. He noted that a university’s ultimate triumph is measured not solely by academic distinction, but by its ability to instill core values, ethics, integrity, and a deep sense of social responsibility in its students. He praised BUP for shaping a patriotic, competent generation and wished the institution enduring prosperity.

These newly inaugurated facilities are poised to substantially optimize academic and administrative workflows, empowering students and faculty with expanded horizons for modern learning, innovative research, and creative pursuits.

The ceremony drew a distinguished gathering, including members of the BUP Senate, senior leadership from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, former Vice Chancellors, alongside senior university officials, esteemed faculty members, and enthusiastic students. – Press release
