Teacher occupies primary school classroom in Kuakata, disrupts work

Patuakhali: Shiuli Parvin, an assistant teacher of the school, and her husband, former headmaster of the school, Md. Abdur Rab Siddiqui, have been occupying a classroom of the 139th Phasipara Government Primary School in Kuakata, Patuakhali for a long time. The room has been made habitable by using various materials including school benches. Although this has disrupted the teaching of the students, the authorities have not taken any effective action till date, locals allege.

Sources said that during the teaching at the school, all household chores, starting from cooking, are being done in that room. Such activities, which have been going on for more than 6 months, are disrupting the normal teaching activities of the entire school. However, even though no parent or teacher wants to talk about it out of fear of the former headmaster, they have demanded that the teaching environment in that room be restored.

Upazila Primary Education Officer Mst. Shahida Begum said, I have come to know about the matter. We are taking action in this regard.

Kalapara UNO Kausar Hamid said, administrative action will be taken in this regard subject to investigation. - Gofran Palash
