Gold Prices Rise Tk 2,216 Per Bhori in Bangladesh

Gold prices in Bangladesh have increased again, with the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) raising the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori (11.664 grams), effective from 10:00am on Monday.

Following the latest adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold jewellery, including VAT, stands at Tk 223,074 per bhori, according to a BAJUS statement.

BAJUS said the price hike was made due to an increase in the price of acid-tested pure gold in the local market.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring and announced in a statement signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.

Under the revised rates, the price of 21-carat gold has increased by Tk 2,100 to Tk 213,043 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has risen by Tk 1,750 to Tk 182,950 per bhori.

The price of traditional gold has also been raised by Tk 1,458, reaching Tk 149,474 per bhori.

The latest increase comes just three days after BAJUS lowered gold prices on July 24. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk 3,324 per bhori to Tk 220,858, while 21-carat gold was cut by Tk 3,150 to Tk 210,943 per bhori.

BAJUS said gold prices are being adjusted in line with changes in the domestic market price of pure gold.
