The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has reduced gold prices in the local market for the second time within a week, lowering the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 per bhori.
According to a statement issued by Bajus on Friday, the new rates came into effect from 10:00am.
Under the revised pricing, one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold now costs Tk242,495 in the domestic market.
The association said the decision was taken following a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market and after reviewing the overall market situation.
Under the new rates:
21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk231,472 per bhori
18-carat gold at Tk198,405 per bhori
Traditional method gold at Tk161,605 per bhori
Previously, on May 7, Bajus had increased the price of 22-carat gold by the same amount of Tk2,216, setting the rate at Tk244,711 per bhori.
At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk233,572 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk200,213 and traditional gold at Tk163,063 per bhori.
With the latest revision, gold prices in Bangladesh have now been adjusted 64 times so far this year. Among those changes, prices were increased 35 times and reduced 29 times.
In 2025, Bajus revised gold prices a total of 93 times, including 64 increases and 29 reductions, reflecting continued volatility in the precious metals market.
