According to the Thakurgaon-based 50 BGB Battalion, the three individuals were apprehended by BSF on March 2 after they crossed 150 yards into Indian territory near Waligarh, close to Dabri.
Lieutenant Colonel Tanzir Ahmed, commander of the 50 BGB Battalion, confirmed that upon receiving the report, BGB swiftly communicated with their Indian counterparts. A flag meeting at the company commander level was held the following day, resulting in the detainees' release and safe return to Bangladesh.
The BSF handed over the three individuals to the BGB, who then transferred them to Haripur Police Station for further legal procedures regarding the trespassing charges.
"We were able to bring back the detained individuals after prompt communication with the BSF. This incident serves as a reminder for people to exercise caution and avoid taking such risks in the future," Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed stated.
The detained Bangladeshis were identified as Tulan Pal from Baliadangi Upazila in Thakurgaon, and Mithun Singh and Manhari Chandra Singh from Atwari Upazila in the neighboring Panchagarh district.
