Rangpur Zone of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC organized Agent Banking Business Development Conference and Workshop on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing on Monday, February 18, 2025 at a community center in Rangpur. Md. Abdul Jalil, independent director of the bank graced the program as the chief guest. Dr. M. Kamal Uddin Jasim, deputy managing director & ASM Rezaul Karim, senior executive vice president of the bank, addressed as special guests. A. K. M. Mahbub Morshed, senior executive vice president & head of Development Wing, presided over the program while Abul Laise Mohd. Khaled, head of Agent Banking Division and A.K.M. Shafiar Rahman, head of Rangpur Zone, addressed the program.

Head of branches and proprietors of the agent banking outlets under Rangpur Zone attended the conference.

Md. Abdul Jalil, in his speech as the chief guest, emphasized that the owners of the Islami Bank’s agent banking outlets are not only working for financial gain but also for the emancipation in the hereafter. The Islamic banking system has created a revolution in the economic sector of the country. He highlighted that Islami Bank has made remarkable contribution in development of and rendering services to marginal people of the country. He noted that obstacles to the development of the bank have been removed and the bank will play its role more smoothly in the coming days. He further said that the bank's inclusionary services will be further expanded through spreading welfare-oriented services to the clients.

At the conference,it was disclosed that Islami Bank is currently providing banking

services in remote areas through 2,783 agent outlets in 473 upazilas of the country.

The number of agent banking customers of Islami Bank is more than 50 lakhs. In 2024 alone, Islami Bank's agent banking collected Tk 2,277 crore as new deposits and Tk 17,000 crore in remittances. – Press release
