An exhibit of the contemporary exhibition Different Strokes will begin at AFD Friday 17 April 2026.

The 5th edition of Different Strokes, a contemporary art exhibition celebrating diverse artistic expressions, will be held from 17 to 22 April 2026 at La Galerie, Alliance Française, Dhaka, Dhanmondi.

Bringing together a dynamic group of artists, the exhibition offers a compelling exploration of contemporary artistic practices in Bangladesh. Through a rich interplay of styles, mediums, and personal narratives, Different Strokes reflects the evolving landscape of contemporary art while fostering an engaging dialogue between artists and audiences.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on 17 April 2026 at 6:00 PM, with Frank Werner, Director of Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, as Chief Guest, and Najma Akhter, a distinguished artist from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, as Guest of Honour.

Curated and convened by artist Alamgir Kabir, the exhibition continues his vision of creating a vibrant platform for artistic exchange and collaboration.

Featuring a total of forty artworks across diverse mediums, the exhibition marks a vibrant coming together of both emerging and established artists. Free from constraints of age or artistic boundaries, the participants present works that embody the essence of creative freedom and aesthetic exploration.

The themes of the exhibition remain open-ended, allowing each artist to express their unique vision. The artworks traverse a wide range of subjects—from the textures and rhythms of nature, scenes along the Padma River, and boats resting by the ghat, to portraits of women, animals in motion, floral studies, and both figurative and abstract compositions.

Participating artists include Alamgir Kabir, Bayan Shafique, Farzana Rahman, Mahbuba Begum, Oaniya Tahsin Rahman, Razia Sultana Khan, Tahera Banu (Keya), and Zayn Shafique. Each artist brings a distinct voice, collectively shaping a multifaceted narrative that celebrates individuality while emphasizing a shared spirit of creative inquiry.

Different Strokes invites art enthusiasts, collectors, students, and the wider public to experience a diverse and thought-provoking exhibition that captures the essence of contemporary artistic expression in Bangladesh.
