Dense fog sharply reduced visibility at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today, forcing eight inbound flights to be diverted to alternate airports, authorities said.

Airport officials confirmed that safety concerns prompted the diversions as visibility at the capital’s main airport dropped significantly.

Of the eight diverted flights, three were redirected to Shah Amanat International Airport, four landed in Kolkata, India, and one was rerouted to Bangkok International Airport.

Officials said normal flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will resume once weather conditions improve.

Affected airlines are providing necessary assistance to passengers, including meals and hotel accommodations, while authorities thanked travelers for their patience during the temporary disruption.
