An engaging and insightful session of PHOTO ADDA was hosted yesterday at the Auditorium of Alliance Française de Dhaka, bringing together photography enthusiasts, students, and professionals for an inspiring evening of discussion and learning.

The event featured celebrated photographer and educator Abir Abdullah in conversation with renowned aviation photographer Sharif Sarker. Organized by the Alliance of Photographers, the session ran from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and saw a strong turnout from the local creative community.

Sharif Sarker shared his journey into aviation and aerial photography, offering insights into his decades-long career that began in 1990. He reflected on his early work, including his first solo exhibition “Bangladesh from Above” in 2004 and his participation in aviation-themed exhibitions marking the centennial of powered flight. He also discussed the technical and creative challenges of aerial photography, along with his passion for documenting landscapes, streets, and ethnic communities.

During the session, Abir Abdullah guided the discussion toward storytelling in photography, encouraging emerging photographers to develop a deeper narrative approach to their work. The interactive format allowed attendees to engage directly with the speakers through questions and discussions.

Participants appreciated the opportunity to learn from two accomplished photographers and to gain practical insights into both artistic and technical aspects of photography. The event reinforced PHOTO ADDA’s role as a platform for knowledge-sharing and community building within Bangladesh’s photography scene.

The Alliance of Photographers continues to foster such initiatives, supporting the growth of visual storytelling and collaboration among photographers across the country. – Press release
