According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), the farmers have cultivated black gram on 1100 hectares of land against the target 1050 hectares.
The office said incentives involving Tk 6.66 lakhs were disbursed among 780 small and marginal farmers for increasing Black gram production in the district.
According to the DAE office sources, each of the farmers got five kilograms of Black gram seed, 10 kilograms of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kilograms of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer for the cultivation of one Bigha land.
The DAE office said, farmers got 197 tonnes of black gram from 140 hectares of land in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila. Besides 121 tonnes from 103 hectares in Sarishabari, 166 tonnes from 115 hectares in Melandah , 395 tonnes from 350 hectares in Islampur , 326 tonnes from 295 hectares in Dewanganj, 79 tonnes from 75 hectares in Madarganj and 27 tonnes from 22 hectares in Bakshiganj Upazila.
Deputy Director of the DAE Zakia Sultana said incentives were disbursed among the farmers for encouraging them in Black Gram cultivation for increasing its production in the district.
