Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed indicated on Sunday that changes are likely at the highest levels of the police administration.
"Some changes will come, but it will take some time,” he told reporters at the Secretariat following a courtesy meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Speaking on the next session of the Jatiya Sangsad, he said the President’s notification to convene the session must be issued at least 15 days in advance. A summary will be sent from the Parliament Secretariat to the Prime Minister’s Office and then forwarded to the President for approval. The session is scheduled to begin on 12 March.
Salahuddin, also a member of the BNP Standing Committee, said the meeting discussed the parliamentary agenda. All ordinances enacted during the interim government will be placed before parliament, and the President will deliver a speech, followed by regular business. He noted there has been no discussion yet on the election of a new President or Speaker.
Referring to Saturday’s reported terrorist incident in Mohammadpur, the minister said he has ordered an investigation and requested a report. “If such incidents occur, we will take strict action,” he added.
