Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that several committees have been formed to ensure no innocent persons are wrongfully punished during the nationwide 'Operation Devil Hunt’.

“No major or minor offenders will be spared in 'Operation Devil Hunt,' and only those involved in criminal activities will be arrested. Even law enforcement officials will not be exempted from the operation. It will continue until the country is free from criminals,” he said on Monday.

The Home Adviser shared the details while speaking to reporters after a meeting with law enforcement agencies in Rajshahi division, held at the Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday.

On the issue of daily essentials, the adviser assured that the prices would remain stable during Ramadan due to adequate supplies of dates and chickpeas, reports UNB.

He also assured that there is no fertilizer shortage in the country.

Jahangir Alam, however, blamed unscrupulous dealers for artificially inflating the prices of daily essentials during Ramadan.

In contrast, he said, in foreign countries, prices typically decrease during this period. “Legal action will be taken against dishonest traders involved in creating artificial shortages,” he warned.
