2 killed as cattle-laden human hauler overturns in Naogaon

Two people were killed and seven others injured when a shallow-engine-run human hauler, locally known as a Bhotbhoti, overturned an plunged into a ditch on the Biharinagar Bypass in Dhamoirhat upazila of Naogaon district on Saturday.


The deceased were identified as Bhuttu Hossain, 45, a cattle trader and son of Nazim Uddin, and Masudur Rahman Maula, 30, the driver of the vehicle and son of Joynul of Aranagar village in the upazila.

Quoting locals, Imam Zafar, officer-in-charge of Dhamoirhat Police Station, said the accident occurred in the Double Bridge area around 7:30 am when the Joypurhat-bound, cattle-laden Bhotbhoti overturned while giving way to a motorcycle, leaving two people dead on the spot and seven others injured.

On information, a team from the Fire Service rushed to the scene and carried out a rescue operation, reports BSS.

The injured were taken to Dhamoirhat Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
