Two killed in Tangail road crash

Two construction workers were killed and eight others injured in a road accident in Bangra area under Kalihati upazila of the district this afternoon.


The deceased were Zahar Ali, 40, of Konabari area and Muktar Ali, 45, a resident of Baniafor area of the upazila.

The accident occurred on the Tangail-Jamalpur highway around 2.30 pm when a Dhaka-bound bus hit a pickup van from behind, leaving 10 pickup van passengers injured, Tangail Sadar Hospital Police Box In-charge Alamgir Hossain said.

Later, locals rescued them and taken to Tangail General Hospital where two people succumbed to their injuries. Among the injured, two were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment, reports BSS.

Police said that 20 construction workers were returning home from Kalihati riding a pickup van after completing their work in Ghuni Salanga area of the upazila.
