2 killed in Rangpur road accident

Two people, including the driver of a covered van and his assistant, were killed in a road accident at the Barodorga overpass point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway in Pirganj upazila here today.

 
“The accident occurred at noon when a covered van heading from Gazipur to Rangpur hit a heavy standing vehicle used for highway renovation work there,” said Barodorga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Omar Faruk. 
 
The front part of the covered van was twisted and the driver of the covered van and his assistant were killed on the spot. 
 
The deceased are driver Bayezid Ahmed, 20, son of Israfil Sheikh of Ulusara village in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur district, and Mushfiqur Rahman, 22, son of Sohel Bepari of Paiksha village in Nawabganj police station of Dhaka district, reports BSS. 
 
"The damaged covered van is in police custody. A case has been filed with Pirganj Police Station in Rangpur," the OC of Barodorga Highway Police Station added.
