Two people were killed, and three others injured in a road accident in Jashore’s Monirampur Upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Ratan Roy, 27, son of Rajan Mia, a van passenger from Abdullahpara village in Shaghata Upazila, Gaibandha district, and Nazmul Sheikh, 40, son of Khalek Sheikh from Joypur village in Manirampur Upazila.

The injured are Swab Akhtar from Gopalpur village in the Upazila, Ibrahim Gazi from Purba Jhaljhara village, and Babul Akhtar from Gaibandha district.

Witnesses said that a Jashore-bound passenger bus departing from Satkhira struck a van in front of the Manirampur Government College gate around 1 pm on Sunday, leaving one van passenger dead on the spot.

Following the collision, a pedestrian attempted to stop the bus, but it ran over him, and three more van passengers were injured.
